We slept in a bit this morning, exhausted from stress - and poor Rick from getting up every two hours to double check our positioning.
The tugs are fine this morning! I have NO idea how they didn't end up on top of these rocks - nor why they anchored so close to shore. |
Moving out of the bay we entered Collins Inlet, a totally different type of scenery - and just gorgeous!
Collin's Inlet is famous for its pink granite - and its fjord-like shape. |
It's narrow and protected - perfect for kayaks and canoes. We tried to be respectful and not wake them. The local boats didn't seem to be doing likewise. |
Mid-afternoon....are you FREAKIN KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW WITH THIS SHIT??? |
Luckily it was headed north and we were headed south. This is just where we like a storm to be - behind us! |
Late afternoon we made it to Killarney - the exit of Georgian Bay and the entrance to step #3 of our journey, the North Channel! |
By now the wind was whipping, so we were not surprised AT ALL to see this come over the town as we docked.
I told the Australian dock hand that it must be me. But he said he
thought it was because yesterday he had exclaimed how little it rained
in this part of Canada. Right after he said that the storm that attacked us last evening, blew through Killarney, and broke apart some of the docks. In addition
there was such hail that a MainShip like ours had holes blown through
the upper canvas bimini 'like machine gun fire'.
So it wasn't just us. Hooray??! Tied up to the dock we went off for lunch when once again the heavens opened and the wind whipped up into a frenzy. We were so happy to have made the decision to come to the marina a day early. Not sure we could have handled another night of demon storms.
The Sportsman Inn - we stayed here for tonight - we move tomorrow to the sister marina just up the channel. |
