Mon Aug 7: Rohrbach anchorage to Wright’s Marina

OK - this is totally on me.  My bad, as the kids say.  I said we were looking forward to rain, but I didn't SPECIFICALLY say how much, in what form or how long it should last.  😖  So we woke to a deluge - which made it a picnic to bring up the anchor and wash it off.  Also, there was wind.  Rick kept us off rocks while I put on all my rain gear and camped out at the anchor (thanks, Betty Mom, for the rain pants that I have never used before!).  Fortunately, it came up clean and we made a dash for it.

In discussion with the local boater last night, we had decided the weather was going to deteriorate enough that we needed to do the bit that's open to Georgian Bay and then get to a marina, by mid-day.  It was, as predicted, windy and rainy on the Bay - but no problem to get where we were going.

Only mad dogs, Englishmen and us... The only shots we have from today are gloomy lighthouse pix.  But thank goodness for lighthouses!

We made it to Wright's Marina by 12n - tied up, had avo toast and collapsed into a 3-hour nap.  It's been a week ....

The rest of the day was indoor housekeeping, due to rain.  And by evening we were happy to be tied to a dock as the wind came up.  I got to enjoy a sweater and long pants!!

  1. With the heat index we had this week in jacksonville beach, it is hard for me to imagine pants and sweater!!! Lighthouse with an actual light on!
