In which we wear our birthday suites ...
Today's route. |
Today brought an unexpected surprise - a little blue sky. I think the last non-cloudy day we had was July 7...
In case you have trouble recognizing this phenomenon, as I did - the red arrows are pointing to BLUE SKY. |
Once through lock C12, we were officially in Lake Champlain. Although it didn't look yet much like a lake. It was giving off major Last of the Mohican's vibes. Which was filmed in NC, but actually took place in this area. I have HIGH hopes of seeing Hawkeye - OMG, what I crush I had.
A little wider, and starting to see rock cliffs and pines. |
We could see the fort, but that will have to wait until tomorrow. We will anchor on the other side as Mr Weather says the wind will be coming hard from the south. He was NOT WRONG.
We got tucked up in our anchorage just in time. The wind blew so hard I had to get under the covers. It whipped the spray off the whitecaps so that it looked like sand blowing across a grey desert. That part was pretty cool!
Later the skies cleared and Rick decided we needed to take advantage of our first fresh water. By skinny dipping! I was a bit hesitant - but man it was nice to be clean and cool. For a change.
If Hawkeye doesn't show up I'm gonna stick with this one., |
A nice sunset - after days of clouds! |
Good night, moon ... |
I loved that movie too....stay alive, I will find you! Looks so nice. Glad you have the whole lake to yourself. How cold is that water? I don't think Hawkeye could fix as many things as Rick!
ReplyDeleteI actually pulled up A MAP of Lake Champlain so I could see where you are moving and the locks. Not sure what is wrong with me this morning. I imagine the water will get colder?
