In which we collect another cousin ...
I had my staff meeting in the morning - Rick finds it super suspicious that I 'have to work' whenever it is time to provision. But maybe it's that Rick finds 'a need to shop' whenever I am working???
Today our priority was re-connecting with a cousin I had not seen in 35 years, and that Rick had never met. He looked exactly the same - me, on the other hand .... Hang in there - remember, I have about 46 cousins (first, second, removed). So this is just the beginning!
Late afternoon we said goodbye to James and went with Skip and Alison from Legacy (they rented a car) to the Groton dam. It actually was a nice-looking dam! I love that they incorporated the natural setting. What was most striking was the number of women in Middle Eastern dress taking photos.
It also reminded me of the time we went to the Hoover Dam, with the kids, and gave the kids permission to use the word 'dam' in context. They had the best time talking about the 'dam snack bar' , 'dam t-shirts' and the 'dam tour'!
Back at the dock momma duck was taking a break, and supervising swim practice. The ducklings were too little to get out of the water, so she has some 'her time'.
The FBN of the day is Callin In Gone - they are loopers in the marina near us, and he says it is a song with the lyric 'instead of calling in sick I'm callin in gone'. Great stuff! |
Just at sunset we had a micro-burst storm. The wind whipped up, the rain came down, we got tossed around. I really felt for the Gilligan crew of the SS Minnow. We nipped over to Legacy for drinks, thinking that the fancy boat would get tossed around less. Maybe it was the drinks, or maybe it was the fancy boat - anyway, it was more calm.
And by the time we headed home for bed we had (YET ANOTHER) pretty sunset...
Wow that is dam nice! I agree incorporating nature adds to the beauty.
