Sorry for the delay in posting from Traverse City. Once we received the news about Melanie’s father, we organized a flight for her for Thursday. That left Wednesday for Traverse City. Unfortunately it rained much of the day and not a little. I ventured out briefly in the morning and found a farmers market right across the street from the marina. We celebrated our 31st anniversary that day (Sept 6) so I bought some nice pastries and a chai for Melanie. The rain started shortly after that and we spent the remainder of day on the boat watching the rain doing a puzzle and projects. The grey sky matched our grey mood. Sorry to say that we don’t have any photos of the day or the town I’m sorry to say.
Thursday brought another grey day but at least it wasn’t pouring rain. Melanie’s flight was at 7 pm so we still had a chance to explore a bit. We walked over to the Main Street and had lunch at a small pub. Then we walked down to the beach to collect our vial of sand. Some of our readers may remember that we collect a little sand from each state or country we visit. Here is our Michigan sand:
Tomatoes from the farmers market
With our sand we also collected some small pebbles and driftwood pieces. Melanie had seen a piece of art and decided that she could do it herself. Here is the result:
At 5 pm we ordered an Uber and shortly thereafter Melanie headed off the the airport. The goal now is to move the boat down to a marina close to Chicago so I can leave the boat and fly to Colorado and/or Atlanta for a few days before we start our trip down the river system. The next few days looked good wind and weather wise so I will single hand down to Muskegeon or Grand Haven then Bob Murphy will join me for the rest of the trip.
Good night!
