Stayed in Beaufort
Woke up late (like 8 am – hooray for the time
change. I love extra sleep) and just
relaxed around the boat. I think we were
both relieved not to have to boat anywhere today. This is a charming marina, and a bit away
from the main ‘town’ so very quiet.
We then checked out the marina courtesy car (yes, some
marinas have a car that they let you use!).
It was fun to drive a car again, and we treated ourselves to Dunkin’
Donuts for breakfast. They have the
best tea, and I, still milking the birthday thing, got a box of their teabags
for the boat. We then did our errands…
Yes – I’m afraid we DID have to got to ANOTHER Dollar store (for a couple more stick
on LED under cabinet lights and batteries), Food Lion where we stocked up on
groceries and then to Ace Hardware (AGAIN WITH THE ACE HARDWARE) to try to find
some deck chairs for the boat. This was
a wonderful – almost Home Depot like – hardware store but no luck with
chairs. No one seems to keep summer chairs
as the winter approaches. No winter for
us, ha HA!!! Clever Rick thought to get
the materials to make hat leashes so your hat doesn’t blow off in the wind. I think they are, like, $9 on Amazon.
Back at the marina we enjoyed an afternoon of relaxing on the boat and watching a little football (yeah – not me). We especially enjoyed the marina’s endless hot water and ample shower space. We worked on the plan for the next few days. It turns out that marinas usually keep an area devoted to free books, so I looked through all the offers and left one in return. Originally, I had thought I would create a little floating free library on our boat – now I don’t have to! Most importantly, we filled the boat up with fresh water so some of us could actually use water without having others of us freak out that we might suddenly have none. (It’s not like we are in the Sahara, or that we can’t pull over in an emergency)… Hooray for a good marina!

Lord do boaters love puns and word play - say this one out loud (huge eye roll - but it had Rick laughing like a hyena) |
