Sat Nov 4: Panther Creek to Birdsong Marina and 'Resort'

The sunrise was so pretty I actually got out of bed for it!  That's saying something...

It was an easy, pretty day - although there were several boats on the same trajectory who clearly had not been to the passing-etiquette school we had.  But, as one of my friends says, you can't fix stupid.  So it's best not to get too worked up about it if they can't remember how to pass you without waking you, or alerting you on the radio...

You know, just your average, strange, abandoned building in the river...

Birdsong 'Resort' and Marina is much talked about, but its glory days are far, far, behind it...  The legend lives on only in the mind of its owner, Bob. He made every new boat sit down for a 'briefing', which turned out to be a melange of TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority) info, reminiscing about the old days, misplaced conservative Christian theology and some info about Birdsong as the only fresh-water cultivated-pearl site in North America. Some of it could have been interesting, but we were tired and hadn’t eaten lunch yet, and we felt a bit highjacked. We will take the pearl tour tomorrow….I think!

They put together this welcome photo for us:

The place has heart, but is falling apart.... Look at our spooky companion boat.  My friend, Deb, would be totally freaked out about possible ghosts and refuse to sleep next to it!

It's interesting in the afternoon light!

It's awfully close.... Eeeeekkkk -  Halloween is supposed to be over...

PS-Rick had a replacement flag mailed to Green Turtle, so we are once again equipped with Looper flag….and are hoping that bad luck is behind us.
