Sat Sept 12: Hanging in Yorktown

In which we stay a bayoneted musket's length apart...

Chop, chop - lots to do in Yorktown (with Jamestown and Williamsburg called the Historic Triangle).  Yorktown is important in the country's founding - if you can't remember why please Google it.  I can't be bothered to remember all this stuff that happened in US history that we were probably taught the years when I was off living in Australia and learning about that history (I can sure tell you about the founding of Australia and the importance of Port Arthur) (I can also tell you why the grey/gray and theatre/theater and color/colour problems affect me personally). I can't possibly remember two sets of histories...

First on the agenda is the Farmer's Market:

And, continuing the chai latte cross-country tasting, a chai for me at Green Mt.  This is a 'hard pass', as the kids say.  Definitely terrible - not enough flavor, too sweet and too milky.

We jumped on the free trolley to the museum, where we proceeded to ....not go in.  I thought Rick would go back later but he never felt the spirit move him.

At least we learned that the founding father was pro-mask, and that there is yet another way to measure distance.  I love that they made this info playful yet informative.

We jumped back on the trolley to the Yorktown Battlefield

Then we walked back through the historical colonial part of Yorktown.  I appreciate this use of our tax dollars - helping the Park Service buy and restore so many of the original old places.

Back at the tiny but lovely beach/harbor, the three master is done for the day:

And so is Blue Horizon.  It's a decent temperature for once!
