In which Biden is celebrated...
Don't forget - 'VA is for Lovers'. But sometimes their license plates say 'Don't Tread on Me'. I feel like these are opposing mottos. Maybe one is Democratic and one is Republican?
Here is the kind of thing they do for excitement in VA. This is the Crab Derby. Unlike with the Kentucky Derby the losers get eaten. Probably the winner does to. It's just that kind of world these days...
I took us off the dock in Norfolk early because Rick is worried about my comfort (awwww) on the Bay - wind is coming up this afternoon and we need to get to Yorktown before it creates big waves. We spent about 1 gazillion years getting out of the looooonnnngggg Norfolk Harbor but when we did - there they were. The waves. We've seen worse but it was a long 4 hours.
Happy to get into the tiny little Yorktown Marina, we were even happier to see that the only other boat was flying a Biden flag!!!!
We've never seen one before and what a delightful couple they were! The captain of that boat says that the flag keeps the crazies away and brings so many others out to chat. We will get one immediately. A local had just loaned them a car and within 10 minutes of meeting them I was in a strange car headed to Kroger with strangers. I feel like my mother might have had something to say about that...
Back on the dock the wind had come up so we moved the two boats into a bit more sheltered position and then settled in for socially-distanced docktails.
Lynn and Carolyn are from Oregon, are long-time boaters and have been trying to do the loop just as we have been. The best part is that they spent several years part-time in Europe on a boat, so we bombarded them with questions as we have been thinking that might be our next adventure. If we are ever allowed back into Europe.
It's going to be a bumpy night, but we are in a pretty place and have lots to be thankful for.
