Dija miss us?! Or was it a nice break from boring mandatory reading….?? (There is a right and wrong answer here, people.)
Lots happened-here is a super-quick rundown. We can have a breakout sesh to further discuss any of this, as desired:
Rick became a bike guide and had a fun/exhausting time-
His company took us to a concert in Woodstock (not that Woodstock) VT. |
My brother showed up and we drove all over VT visiting 5 of the 6 cousins whose father was one of my dad's 6 brothers - uncle Dave Bradley. So. Much. Fun! And Mark and I got to try out our comedy brother/sister material on people other than our tired spouses-
Cousin Darby and wife Liisa (from Finland). They fed us lunch. |
We ate salad with flowers!!! |
Dinner was at Ben/Nicky's house (Thetford Center, VT), and came from their incredible garden. Nicky is an amazing cook. Bronwen and her husband came from Lebanon NH, Cousin Wendy from Barnet VT. Cousin Steven came from his house right next door to Ben/Nicky, so that was easy! Mark and I stayed the night, which was pretty peaceful right up until 5am when Mark accidentally rolled over on the car keys and set off the panic button.
Ben's wife, Nicky. |
Cousin Ben |
Bronwen's husband, Bob |
Cousin Bronwen |
Cousin Steven - he is the baby of the family, a year older then me. |
The next day we drove to Wendy's house, met her husband Bob (yes - another Bob) and son Alex. We went on a short steep hike with a great view, and then they fed us lunch before Bob went off to his ice skating lessons! That's his retirement hobby. And they live on a small farm, so I guess the chicken, cows and horse are also a hobby...? For lunch we ate ground beef that came from their livestock, so I guess I know the future of those cows in the barn.
Mark, me and Cousin Wendy. |
Then we had to run off so that we could make it back to Burlington for dinner with mom's college roommate, Lenny! So it was pretty much food and cousins, 24/7.

I gave up the master bunk so that my tall brother could get some sleep, but I'm not sure the rain storm in the night where I had to crawl over him to shut the hatch made that possible. The next day we took a walk, and then he drove on to meet up with wife Shelby on Cape Cod. I walked into the marina office and said 'my brother made me talk about my feelings for 48 hours straight, so I need to buy ALL the food with sugar in it'. Then I spent the rest of the day self-medicating.
It was nice to have a little time to myself on the boat. |
I did important work like defrost the refrig - it's very satisfying. This piece was like the Larsen Ice Shelf breaking off. |
I had some furry neighbors - do you think they know what their boat is called?! |
It was nice, but I was awfully happy to see my sweaty fella Friday night! |
Mel, if your brother is half as funny as you are, then you were an entertaining duo! How nice that the cousins all live near each other and that you were able to spend so much time with your brother. (A man who can talk about his feelings!!!).
