This is definitely a reason to get out of bed today!
As we headed out of the marina I optimistically grabbed my fleece jacket; thinking that grey, heavy skies meant it would be cold. Nope... It was hot, and humid from all the rain hanging in the sky. Sigh...
Treasure Island is the farthest east we will go this year - one cardinal direction done! The plan for the next couple of days is below - travel Kingston to Trenton, with an anchorage in between to break up the two long days. The city of Picton is one possible half-way stopping point, but we want to have some quiet before we enter the Trent Severn canal, so we will anchor out. Along the way we will say good-bye to Lake Ontario.
As we left Kingston we got to wave at all the tourists who don't have their own boat... |
Because it was Sunday it was regatta day all up and down the waterways. A cloudy day doesn't keep Canadian sailors away. |
Since I don't have much to report, I will show you Rick's little edible science experiment - he turned alfalfa seeds into yummy sprouts in FOUR DAYS! On a BOAT!!
Once settled into our anchorage Rick bought a Canadian fishing license (birthday gift from his mom 💕) and fussed about with fishing gear. Since he was fishing….we ended up having chicken for dinner!
He looks a little confused, doesn't he....we will get him a lesson or two in Georgian Bay. |
I thought about swimming, but the water wasn't very clear so it was easy to talk myself out of it and into a book instead. We are alone on the water here, but on Nebo, our tracker ap, we can see a mass of some 25 Loopers in Trenton, and so continue to be a bit nervous about how backed-up the canal might be. Well, we can't change anything by worrying about it, so we distracted ourselves, and hid from the bugs, by watching The Witcher on Netflix. And The Witcher certainly IS distracting - both of us have a little crush on him!
It was a lovely sunset - partly because smoke is in the air again. That's my fault for talking about 'no smoke' out loud the other day... |
Good Night!
Love the pictures. The map too (really). And the old style paddlewheel tourist boat.
